T.J. Dillashaw, has informed the organisation that he will no longer compete in mixed martial arts.

Dillashaw's manager, had informed the promotion of the fighter's desire to retire.

The news was initially announced on Twitter by Michael Wonsover.

Dillashaw made the decision to retire after having to have yet another major surgery to repair shoulder damage.

It was caused by his most recent defeat against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 280.

The decision was made as a result of the realisation that that was ultimately a bridge too far for Dillashaw to expect any reasonable timeline to return to action.

he had tested positive for EPO and received a two-year suspension.

When he eventually came back, he defeated Cory Sandhagen before losing to Sterling.

Dillashaw leaves the sport with a career record of 17-5.
