Which Is Faster Tesla’s Model 3 Or Y ?

Tesla says Tesla Model Ys propulsion can take you from nil to 60 miles per hour in only 3.5 seconds. The Model 3s Performance comes just.15 seconds faster than the estimated time to reach zero-to-60, which the electric car maker specifies at 3.35 seconds, and Model Y posted a 3.72-second time.

Model 3 Or Y

The Model 3 could reach 0-60 in 4.2 seconds, while Model Y could do it in 4.8 seconds. Acceleration is still absolutely quick, however, with the long-range Model Y taking 4.8 seconds to reach its benchmark, while the Performance model of the Y takes only 3.5. The Model Y Long Range is built to reach 330 miles per charge, and the Performance Model manages around 303 miles.

The current Long Range Model Y boasts a EPA estimated range of 326 miles, is capable of reaching top speeds of 135 miles per hour, and is capable of reaching 0-60 miles per hour in just 4.8 seconds. The least expensive Tesla available is the Standard Range Plus Model 3, which has a EPA estimated range of 263 miles, reaches a top speed of 140 mph, and can go 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds. The Tesla Model X is estimated to start at about $44,490 for the Standard Range Plus, $55,990 for the Long Range, and $61,990 for the Performance Model, respectively.

Technically, the Model 3 is the most worthy option if you want to get an EV relatively cheaply by Teslas own brand, mainly because of the Model 3s higher-performance, longer-range EV. The Model Y offers more space at comparable performance for a price point that is still ranked the second-most affordable option from Teslas lineup. Gently choose Model Y Vs. 3 depending on your preferences/priorities: larger cargo area and convenience, or stronger battery with longer miles range.

Based on comparing Tesla Y vs. 3 models batteries and range, lovers of space and comfort would need to sacrifice performance and range for their desires when choosing Model Y. While the Tesla Model 3 offers better range and performance compared to the Model Y, the Model 3 only fits 5 passengers comfortably, including the driver. In contrast, Model 3 2022 has room for up to 5 passengers, and has a total passenger volume of 97 cubic feet.

Model 3 Or Y

Since Teslas Model Y is based on Model 3, this means that it takes up similar amounts of road space, has virtually the same cockpit and dash layout, and has a pair of battery and engine choices that are generally similar. The Tesla Model Y is built on the same platform (chassis) as the Model 3, so although it is not the only SUV Tesla is going to sell you, it is smaller and cheaper than the other SUV-type vehicle that Tesla has, the Model X. The Tesla Model 3 is a lot nicer to drive, thanks to the lower ride height, and has a leg up (just) in terms of performance and efficiency, though that last one is moot.

A comparison of the Tesla Model 3s performance variants shows that the cars are strikingly similar on performance, range, and 0-to-60 specs. Overall, both electric cars look distinct from one another in terms of being a sedan and one being a crossover electric vehicle, but both options deliver a lot of performance when it comes to range, top speed, and acceleration. Both come with performance all-wheel-drive options, with the Model 3 sedan starting at $94,122 including Luxury Car Tax, but before on-road costs, while jumping up to an equivalent Model Y requires an excellent investment of $7,490.

Unsurprisingly, Model 3 and Tesla Model Y are nearly identically equipped, each vehicle getting Teslas signature 15-inch media screen, dual wireless phone chargers, dual-zone climate control, heated & powered adjustable front seats, and panoramic glass roof. The Model Y is not too far behind in any of these categories, and for a crossover, that is saying something. In the drive from Kettleman City to San Francisco, Model 3 seemed to do 5 percent better range-wise than the Model Y.

Thanks to its smaller dimensions, Model 3 weighed less than the Model Y, which allowed it to eke out a few extra miles of range than the Model Y. Model Ys top speed is 135-155 miles per hour, with 0-60-mph times between 3.5-4.8 seconds. The performance Model 3 offers an estimated EPA range of 315 miles, top speed of 162 mph, and 0-60 mph times of 3.1 seconds.

Moving up to the Long Range trim, that Model 3 offers up 353 miles on a charge, and it can max out at 145 mph. Also, its Model 3 sedan can go from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds. With its rear-wheel-drive single-motor system, the 2022 Model 3 can achieve a top speed of 140 mph, with an acceleration time from 0-60 mph as short as 5.8 seconds. If you are looking for one of the fastest electric cars on the road, The Tesla Model 3 Performance in 2022 will get you to 60 mph in an estimated 3.1 seconds thanks to its 130-kW and 190-kW electric motors.

You would be hard-pressed to find another mass-market crossover SUV capable of that kind of speed, other than Teslas Model X, which can do it in an absurd 2.6 seconds. It is a bit bouncy driving, and while I could feel road imperfections, I actually thought they were smaller than in the Model 3. The Model 3 has a claimed fuel economy as high as 150 urban/133 highway MPGe for the 2022 model year, up from 127 urban/117 highway MPGe in the Model Y.
